Weekend Project: E-Cycle Something!

One of the great things about technology is that it’s always evolving. Unfortunately, progress leaves a lot of obsolete equipment in its wake, from aging computers to worn-out television sets. The problem with e-waste is that it contains all manner of toxic materials that should never make it to the landfill —  including mercury, PVCs, and fire retardants. Got a couple of old dinosaurs squirreled away somewhere? This weekend, get them to a proper recycling center. Check to see if the manufacturer offers a take-back program. If not, look for other options. Some of the big chains, such as Staples, will receive electronic waste for a small recycling fee. Or hit up Earth 911 for a list of certified recycling centers in your area.
