Weekend Project: Turn Off the Lights for Earth Hour

By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep

Earth Hour is upon us. After getting started in Sydney two years ago, when 2.2 million Australians switched off their lights for an hour in support of climate change measures, Earth Hour has now gone global. This year’s goal is 1 billion participants, and organizers a likening flipping off the lights to casting a vote for action at the upcoming Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. In any case, it will be a great demonstration of our dependence on energy — and possibly some fun, too. Earth Hour is Saturday, 28 March, at 8:30pm (your local time). For more information, watch the video currently placed at the top of our sidebar. Or visit the Earth Hour website to see if your city has an official observance. Then turn out the lights!
