Try a Natural Laundry Softener

By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep

There’s no doubt that laundry softeners make fabrics feel soft and smell good. But they’re full of chemicals and perfumes, many of which are derived from petroleum products. If you’re sensitive to these — or just trying to reduce the artificial things in your life — consider a natural fabric softener. Try adding a half cup of baking soda to your wash cycle. Alternately, use a half cup of plain white vinegar in the rinse. The odor disappears once the clothes are dry, and vinegar helps dissolve detergent residue in your washing machine.
