Recycling Still Matters

By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep

With the economic downturn, there’s less demand for recycled materials these days. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to turn in your big green bin. Aluminum, for instance, remains a profitable concern. And there’s one category of goods that should never go in the trash: electronic devices. That fancy phone of yours is filled with all kinds of toxic substances which have no business in a landfill. See if the manufacturer offers a take-back program when it’s done, or seek out a local recycling center through Earth911.

Let's put it this way. Is there any smart reason not to recycle?

And if you'd like to find local recyclers who are willing to pay you for your recyclables then check out RecycleBills.com Local Recyclers Search.

less trash at the curb can mean fewer vehicles, reduced fuel consumption, and lower hauling and storage costs. all good stuff.

We are paying for a rather large trash bin because when we moved in, we had a lot of stuff to toss and a baby going through diapers. Now that he’s out of diapers & we’re not buying crap, our trashbin is only halfway full most weeks. Also since I’m taking care to put even more of our paper and vegetable wasted into the compost heap, our recycling and compost bins are largely empty too.
