Love Eggs? Go Cage-Free

By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep

You don’t have to be a PETA member to appreciate the misery endured by commercial laying hens. Many spend their entire lives crammed into cages so tightly they can’t so much as move a wing. Not ready to give up eggs? Choose cage-free. While not an official USDA designation, cage-free hens are at least free to roam a barn in a more natural fashion. Better yet: Locate a local farm which uses more traditional and humane handling methods. It’s good for the hens and your community.
