After Earth Hour: What’s Next?

By all reports, Earth Hour exceeded everyone’s expectations. Millions of people switched off their lights from Sydney to Honolulu. But as one of our readers put it quite succinctly in a comment to Friday’s Daily Footstep: “How about doing this more than once in a year?” Yesterday’s events were a lot of fun, and they were an impressive demonstration of popular support for environmental action. But the best demonstration is through our daily practice. There are 24 Earth Hours in every day. Turn off that unnecessary light. Run or walk a few errands a week instead of taking the car.
