Do Some Early Spring Cleaning — In Your Car

With gasoline prices a fraction of those last summer, it’s easy to be a bit lax about fuel economy. But extra gallons burned still mean more garbage in the atmosphere, and every dollar saved in a tough economy matters. Let’s do a little automotive spring cleaning. Junk has a tendency to accumulate in the car over the colder months, so open up your trunk and see what’s there. Extra weight reduces your vehicle’s fuel mileage. Remove that forgotten sack of kitty litter, the stuff from last autumn’s tailgate parties, or those gardening supplies you’ve not yet offloaded. Cars are transportation — not storage space!
