Weekend Project: Donate to a Homeless Shelter
By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep
It’s been a brutal winter across much of North America and Europe. The unusually cold weather — and a tough economy — are stretching social agencies past their limits. Want to make a difference this weekend? Call a local homeless shelter or relief agency and see what they need. Blankets and outerwear are usually in short supply this time of year. Many groups will take clean, used items, so you’ll be getting ahead of spring cleaning. And don’t forget food banks: a few canned goods or a small donation can really go a long way.
