Reuse Trumps Recycling

By Chris Baskind in The Daily Footstep

The recent economic downturn has taken the steam out of the recyclables market. So there’s no better time to start thinking about reuse. Finding another purpose for something, buying secondhand, or giving an object to someone who will use it keeps waste out of the disposal stream. It’s cheaper than making new products or reclaiming their materials — and a good reminder that a smart society isn’t a disposable society.
