A Computer for Christmas? Consider Laptops

By Chris Baskind in Christmas, Holidays, The Daily Footstep

If you’re buying someone a computer for Christmas — or expecting one yourself — consider a laptop. Compared to desktop PCs, laptops consume far less power. There’s also less material to recycle at the end of its service life. Look for a model featuring low-PVC, lead, and cadmium content, free from brominated flame retardants. Both Apple and Dell have made big improvements in these areas. And only do business with companies which offer recycling take-back programs.

f you're buying someone a computer for Christmas — or expecting one yourself — consider a laptop. They use less power, and there's less to recycle later.
